Vindicatrix Queensland is but one of many associations around the world perpetuating the "TS Vindicatrix" training ship at which over 70,000 (Vindi) boys were trained from 1939 to 1966 in the craft of seamanship and catering in the British Merchant Navy, then a prerequisite to joining.  The school was run under very strict discipline and very harsh conditions in a canal cutting on the River Severn at Sharpness, an extremely bleak place during winter.

Over 850 Vindi boys have been identified in Australia and New Zealand with many more living in Canada, USA, South Africa and a growing following now in Spain, most of course live in the UK. Not all are members of branches or affiliated with the TSVA, UK for various reasons. With early Vindi boys now in their 80's and many lost during the war years, we are a dying few to perpetuate our beginnings.

Many Vindi boys following their vocation became Master in their own right to Captain ships around the world, others to become Senior Officers, many on leaving joined other Force and Services from Armed, Police, Fire, Ambulance to Security and to excel in employment of all areas of private enterprise and Government, from Senior Cabinet Minister, Speaker of the House to Senior Official. From Accountant to Company Director to Farmer, Jeweller, Baker, Painter, Plumber or Candle Stick Maker, in fact every profession and trade imaginable.

Vindicatrix Queensland was formed in 1996 to foster friendship and welfare amongst our ranks, much like a small social club and now has over 80 members and growing rapidly.  Meetings are held on the first Thursday of alternate months at various venues and 6 newsletters a year are produced to keep members (Vindi boys) up to date with any news and stories written by fellow members.  Wives and partners are welcome to meetings making for some fun social occasions. Entertainment organised by our events committee include lunches, barbeques and outings throughout the year.

Fees, as set down at the AGM in June 2008, are currently $20.00 per annum. Full membership to the Vindicatrix Queensland can only be as ex-Vindi or staff, as is the format of the TS Vindicatrix Association UK.
